Use By Date

The Back Story

IMG_2116_edited_edited.jpg
Yeah. It took twenty years.

An idea I played with.

Characters I dreamed about.

Random thoughts I wrote down.

Then a friend quoted Buddha:

The trouble is, you think you've got time.

What if we don't?

Oh, and that was the essence of my book.

Well, sort of.

It's kind of death positive.

As Keith Richards once said, "Nobody wants to get old but they don't want to die young either."

I guess a lot of us think about death.

So I asked myself my book's central question ~ What if we had a Use By Date?

I knew the answer:

I'd get shit done!

And so, I finished the book. Finally!

It's kind of about what changes in the world when we know our use-by. I mean, imagine the businesses that would pop up if everyone knew when they would pop off?

I think I'd also live by a quote from a character in the book, Hope's Mum (Mon, if you're not a commonwealther).

AKA HER MAJESTY, or HM:

“Don’t let your champagne go flat while you’re busy counting someone else’s bubbles.”

She's the matriarch in Use By Date.

Anyway. It's not quite a rom-com.

I hope you enjoy the story.
