Hi, I'm Pam

My debut novel is now available for pre-order on Amazon; the release date is November 2026. But you can pre-order now.

I'm a first-time novelist in my third act. A British-born Canadian with an Aussie accent, I grew up in Singapore, England and Germany; I spent my teens and early twenties in Australia, and then, while I worked across the globe, I settled in Canada. I'm also a recovering CEO. Seriously. I spent way too much time in the consulting industry, but that's just because I couldn't sing - I really wanted to be a country-western singing sensation. I think I still do.

Then, as I turned 60 a few years ago, I decided the world can be a scary place if you're not up to date on everything. I also wanted to reskill. So I went back to school and signed up for a four year degree majoring in journalism and adding as may politics classes as I could squeeze into my electives. I also took classes in Aging (surely at 60+ I'd crush that?), Creative Writing (I knew I needed help cleaning up my stories), How Social Media Works (it's freakin' frightening) and AI (how could I not?).

But about my book: Use By Date. It was twenty years in the making. I started asking myself, if we knew we were to die, how different would the world be?  Then when Patsy, my bestie, got sick the thought caught fire inside me. I never thought she'd die. She did. Right  around the same time, Dad died unexpectedly. I didn't think he was going to die. And then, as other friends died I never thought they would actually die either. I realized how unprepared I was for other people's death. And I wished, we knew the timeline.

I wished I knew my own timeline as well. I'm a planner. It would certainly be helpful.

Would you want to know your us by date?

Then when mum died, I knew I had to finish the book. Oh, don't think it's morose. or even remotely serious. It's not. It's a fun read. But while it's about friendship and death, I hope it makes you think about time and how you use yours.

Because, everyone has a use by.

So would you get your code?  And what would you do if you knew your use by date?

Pam

PS, I still can't sing.

BTW

Photo credit: My husband. That's me in the busy little market of Creon, France. I don't know the dog. He's cute though. Oh, if you're on your phone you probably can't see me or the dog. Try your laptop if you can.
